His Edge by Wayne Harding
Publisher: Outskirts Press
A semi-autobiographical fast track of a WWII Navy Ensign fighter pilot, turned civilian test pilot, whose Nemesis evil aircraft stalks him “as new kid on the block.” Three women love him for different reasons and three Believers guide him spiritually; all of which gives this young test pilot an exhilarating journey.
I have to say that at the beginning of the book I was a little confused with the story & where it was heading. I knew what it was about but it just was not clear. The story is about Waite who loves planes and is a test pilot for the military. Along the way three different women affect him in three different ways and he struggles with love & desire. What stands in his way is a plane ‘The Brain”, it could easily & quickly snuff out his life, he is a test pilot after all.
As the story goes on he meets three people as well who become very influential in his life. There is drama, action, love and a lot of war and plane talk. The middle of the book got really slow for me and I kind of lost interest until something happened and pulled me back in. If you enjoy reading books on pilots or military stuff in general, you will enjoy this book.
If you are looking for a deep love story, you will not find that in this book although there is some, but the main focus of this book is about a plane, God, Waite and his choices.
I recommend this book but it is a slow read.
